Special carbon steel for extremely hard blades
- Color if used as a layer in damascus steel: dark grey
- Ideal hardness: ca. 63 to 64 HRC Rockwell
- High ability to hold an edge (degree of sharpness: A or B)
- Recommended for thinly sharpened razors, kitchen knives or hunting knives (if used in hunting knives: only recommended for robustly formed knife grinds and points to avoid chipping)
Important information: The steel is soft-annealed. We receive the steel in big plates (about 2 × 1 m). They are being cut into stripes, which are approximately 40 to 60 mm wide. It is possible that the stripes may end up slightly bent due to the cutting process. But that won’t be a problem. You can easily straighten them using hammer and anvil or bench vise and pliers for example.
