stainless steel

Carbon steel becomes corrosion resistant when adding chromium.

From 12-13% chromium steel is considered as "stainless".

Unfortunately the Chrome brings also some disadvantages! The texture inside the steel is coarse-grained and the razorsharpness evaporates faster.
On the other hand stainless steels are cutting longer on a medium shapness level.
Information on knife steel can be found in Service Center under "About Steel".
