Kitchen knives
Good kitchen knives are very sharp, retain their sharpness for a long time, and fit perfectly in the hand. High-quality kitchen knives, such as the Santoku or a chef's knife with a rocking cut, are all-purpose knives that professional chefs use when preparing vegetables, meat, and fish.
Schmiedeglut develops Damascus knives for the kitchen in collaboration with professional chefs and manufactures sharp knives from Damascus steel. More than just an expensive decorative knife with a pattern on the blade, each of our kitchen knives has a practical purpose.
The sharpness is outstanding and the hardness is always above 60 HRC Rockwell. The handles are made of durable materials and all kitchen knives are perfectly balanced for cutting. A kitchen knife from Schmiedeglut is a purchase for life.
As a manufacturer of hand-forged individual pieces, we also use the highest quality knife steel in our series knives and mainly produce Damascus knives. Whether it's a Japanese Santoku knife, a standard chef's knife, a bread knife, or a paring knife... every kitchen knife has special characteristics.
Extensively tested and constantly refined... this is how we optimize the cutting properties, geometry, and weight of our chef's knives for preparing and chopping food. Our Damascus steel is not comparable to cheap mass-produced goods and can be ground very thinly and retains its sharpness for a particularly long time.
We make sure that the blade does not become brittle despite its high hardness of up to 63 HRC. Professional chefs appreciate our knives just as much as amateur chefs with a passion for good, high-quality knives.
How much does a good kitchen knife cost? Whether it's a Japanese Santoku knife, chef's knife, bread knife, steak knife, pocket knife for snacks... the cost depends on the steel and handle material, the details and the quality of the finish, as well as the working time required for production.
Professional chefs such as Tim Mälzer, Alexander Herrmann, and Gordon Ramsey probably work with big brands to earn money. We are proud that our "brand ambassadors" do not have to be paid by us, but recommend Schmiedeglut knives to their friends out of conviction and with enthusiasm in their hearts.
