INOX Damascus, stainless – „Wild Rose“ pattern
Genuine hand-forged Damascus steel is normally not stainless – Schmiedeglut's INOX Damascus is. Forged in the „Wild Rose“ pattern, it reaches a hardness of up to 64 HRC and is livelier, more robust and offers better edge retention than many other Damascus steels on the market. The dimensions of this cut are 3,5-3,7 mm thickness / 55 mm width / 235 mm length.

Properties and applications

- For kitchen knives we recommend 63-64 HRC, for outdoor knives 60-61 HRC.
- Suitable for kitchen, hunting and outdoor knives.
Hardening
Hardening: protect the surface against decarburisation (e.g. with hardening lacquer or foil) / 1045 °C / 15-20 min holding time / quench in hardening oil.
- Tempering at 150 °C (2 x 1 hour) yields approx. 63-64 HRC.
- Tempering at 170 °C (2 x 1 hour) yields approx. 61-62 HRC.
- Tempering at 190 °C (2 x 1 hour) yields approx. 59-60 HRC.
Notes
The Damascus is forged by hand in small batches, forge-welded under exclusion of air and surface-ground.
