Chipper Steel 1.2360 / A8 / X50CrMoV8-1 is a robust all-round steel for work knives and is relatively insensitive to rust. The dimensions of this cut are 3.3 mm thickness / 40 mm width / 1000 mm length.

Properties and applications
- Good mix of carbon steel and stainless qualities.
- Easy to resharpen with simple means.

Hardening
Hardening tip: 1040° / hardening in oil / tempering at 150°C for 2 x 1 hour with quenching in cold water in between yields approx. 59 HRC.
Notes
The steel is soft-annealed and supplied to us in large plates (approx. 2 x 1 m). The plates are cut into strips 40 to 60 mm wide.
The cut strips may be slightly bent. They can be straightened over the knee, in a vise or with hammer and anvil.
