This 1.2235 / 80CrV2 blade steel is a robust, edge-retaining knife steel for a broad range of applications. The dimensions of this cut are 3.4 mm thickness / 40 mm width / 937 mm length.

Properties and applications
- Very robust, yet highly edge-retaining, even under shock loads such as chopping wood.
- Relatively uncomplicated to work.
- Recommended for robust knives, hunting knives, bushcraft knives, outdoor knives and sharp swords.
- 55Si7 is recommended for stage combat swords.
- Very good results at sharpening levels A to C.
Hardening
Hardening: 840° / tempering at 180°C for 1 hour to pale yellow = approx. 61 HRC.
Notes
The steel is soft-annealed and supplied to us in large plates (approx. 2 x 1 m). The plates are cut into strips 40 to 60 mm wide.
The cut strips may be slightly bent. They can be straightened over the knee, in a vise or with hammer and anvil.
